News |   26th October 2022

The OM Group are delighted to announce that we have become an ILM Approved Centre.

We are proud to be able to offer the ILM Level 3 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Leadership and Management Practice for the Construction and Built Environment Sector.  The qualification is suitable for aspiring supervisors and managers and those who want to nurture their existing skills.

What is ILM?

ILM is the Institute of Leadership and Management. ILM creates a wide range of qualifications aimed at leaders and managers who want to develop their skills.

They are the UK’s leading provider of Leadership, Coaching and Management qualifications and have been a part of the City and Guilds Group for over 20 years.

ILM work across many industries, providing flexible qualifications which upskill those in leadership and management roles. The qualifications are offered from Levels 2 through to 7.

The qualifications can lead to three different outcomes, dependent on the format chosen.  Individuals partaking in shorter and more concise qualifications, will receive an Award upon completion.

Those seeking a broader base of skills and knowledge can undertake a qualification for which they will receive a Certificate and for more comprehensive learning, individuals can take on a qualification that will result in a Diploma.

The Awards will comprise of up to 120 learning hours, Certificates will take up to 360 learning hours and 370 hours will be the minimum amount of learning hours required to achieve a Diploma.

All learning hours are reflected in credit values.  Credits are achieved through completing a range of units, each with varying credit values.

ILM in the UK and beyond

ILM works internationally, creating change around the world.

The OM Group joins ILM’s global network of over 2,000 approved centres, comprising of small, medium and large organisations.

Each year, over 70,000 learners register for an ILM qualification. Their decision making, teamwork, creativity and strategic planning skills are all nurtured with the help of ILM.

Ultimately, the qualifications help in creating new waves of talented leaders – good news for industries, particularly for those experiencing skills shortages.

How do you become an ILM Approved Centre?

The process for us becoming an approved centre started by us registering our interest with ILM.

After this, we had a discussion with them to outline our requirements and what we wanted to be able to provide to our clients.  We also discussed the requirements for us as a centre, to make sure we had everything we needed to be able to effectively deliver the qualifications to clients.

After making our case, we paid the approval fee and supplied some approval application documents.

Next, a quality check was completed by a member of ILM’s quality and compliance team, we then waited to hear whether our application was successful, and we were delighted with the result!

Our Head of Operations, Chris, headed up the centre’s application and was very pleased with the outcome.

“Working alongside ILM and delivering their qualifications ensures all current and aspiring managers will get the support and development they need, whilst undertaking the very best management and leadership training available.”

Our company ethos of upskilling within the construction industry perfectly aligns with the opportunities ILM qualifications provide. We’re really excited to work together to create future leaders of industry.
